DESCRIPTION:The dedicated quilters of the Sew Nifty Sisterhood Quilt Guild are gearing up for their bi-\nannual quilt show and quilt raffle. This year’s show is titled\, “Oh My Stars!” will be held on\nJune 19 from 5pm – 7pm and June 20 from 9AM to 4PM. The show will be at the North Clay\nElementary School/Junior High at 550 S. Route 45 in Louisville\, IL.\nThe quilt shown is our raffle quilt. It is titled\, “Our Flag Stands for Freedom” and was created\nto celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday. Purchase your chance to win by contacting any\nguild member. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.\nThis year’s quilt show will display over 100 quilts. Popular activities such as a scavenger\nhunt\, photo backdrop for selfies\, and several food and product vendors will return. New this\nyear will be a boutique of handmade items by our members and a silent quilt auction with\nproceeds to go to local charities. The drawing for the raffle quilt and completion of silent\nauction bidding will take place at 2 pm on the 20 th .\nThe Sew Nifty Sisterhood Quilt guild was founded in 2018. Their mission statement is to\nstimulate an interest in quilts and quilt making\, educate and uplift its members\, provide for\nthe exchange of information\, and encourage community giving. The guild’s community\ngiving is prominently shown in many ways\, but none more so than in their commitment to\nproviding quilts to foster children in Clay\, Marion\, Jefferson\, Richland\, Edwards and other\nsurrounding counties. Some of the agencies serviced include DCFS in Mt Vernon\, Lutheran\nChild and Family Services\, Spiro Children’s Home and Olney DCFS among others.\nCurrently guild members have made and donated over 450 quilts. Members also donate\nquilts to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the University of Virginia Medical Center in\nmemory of a member’s granddaughter.\nThe Sew Nifty Quilt Guild meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 pm at the\nFirst Christian Church in Flora and is welcoming new members.
